Gold Coast Titans v North Queensland Cowboys

The Titans made light work of an at-times inept-looking Cowboys side in the first half, as they raced out to an impressive 24 point lead. The Cowboys rallied in the second half and were much better but couldn't reel in the deficit, losing 30-10 at Cbus Super Stadium.

The Titans opened the scoring in the fourth minute when they put the ball through the hands on the right side, with the ball eventually getting to winger Anthony Don, who was unmarked and ran in to score unmarked in the corner. Ash Taylor failed to convert.

It wasn't until the 21st minute that more points were added when Kevin Proctor received a crash ball and manages to hit the gap between two edge defenders and gets across the line for a strong try on the left side. Jamal Fogarty failed to convert.

On the second tackle from the restart Brian Kelly stepped through feeble defence and then dished a nice ball to AJ Brimson on the inside who runs 30 metres to score. Fogarty converts.

Five minutes before the break and the Titans crossed again, thanks to an incredible Kevin Proctor inside ball off a crash run which found Brimson who hit a gap before running around to score near the posts. Fogarty converts to give the Titans a 20-0 lead at the break.

The second half was just 2 minutes young before the Titans added to the score line once again, this time thanks to another piece of Proctor magic. Fogarty kicked low into the Cowboys in goal. The ball looked to go dead for all money, but Proctor flew through, dived and batted the ball back somehow and Kelly planted the ball for a stunning try. Fogarty just missed the conversion.

A mini Cowboys fightback began in the 46th minute thanks to a lucky bounce. A grubber by Michael Morgan wobbled all over the place as it rolled into the Titans in goal. The ball remarkably bounced through Phillip Sami's legs and Kyle Feldt was Johnny-on-the-spot to plant the ball down for a try. Feldt was unable to convert from touch.

Just three minutes later, the Cowboys were in again when Justin O'Neill managed to somehow keep his toes off the chalk to dive over in the corner to bag an impressive try. Feldt this time nailed the conversion from touch.

The game was put to bed by the Titans in the 68th minute when Taylor threw a stunning cut-out ball which bounced once and then into the hands of Sami, who made a beeline for the corner, ducked under a cover tackle attempt and dived over for a good try on the left side. Fogarty nailed the sideline conversion.

Some ill-disciplined play both sides rounded out the match.
