NRL release 2018 season draw

The NRL has this morning revealed the full 2018 NRL season draw. Read on for more!

It all kicks off on March 8 when the Dragons host Brisbane at Kogarah's UOW Jubilee Oval, as part of an opening round that features an ANZ Stadium grudge match between the Tigers and Roosters (with James Tedesco having defected from the former to the latter); a massive double header in Perth featuring premiers Melbourne; and a Western Sydney derby on an autumn afternoon in Penrith featuring the Panthers and Eels.

All the traditional clashes are there - the Rabbitohs and Bulldogs face off on Good Friday with the Tigers and Eels on Easter Monday; the Roosters, Dragons, Storm and Warriors feature on ANZAC Day and the Bulldogs v Dragons Queen's Birthday clash keeps its spot as well.

Each team receives only one 'official' bye during the season, condensed into two pre-Origin rounds (13 and 17). With Origin II falling on a Sunday for the first time in over fifteen years, all teams will have the weekend off on June 24 as Sydney hosts the second match of the 2018 series. While details are to be confirmed, there are expected to be more fixtures on that standalone weekend, potentially including Pacific Test matches.

In a welcome change for fans, all 25 rounds (down from 26 in previous seasons) have been scheduled up front, making planning your season easy. With the NRL taking back control of the schedule from previous seasons, there's sure to be plenty of controversy.
