Match Overview

South Sydney have comfortably managed to put away an unconvincing Wests Tigers tonight at ANZ Stadium, triumphant 28-8 in front of over 12,000 fans.

Sam Burgess led from the front in a Rabbitohs side that was never really troubled throughout the night. Alex Johnston got the 'away side' on the board after twelve minutes, a handy 6-0 lead cut to 6-2 when the Wests Tigers converted a penalty courtesy of Mitchell Moses.

Burgess put the Bunnies further ahead himself, crashing over for the first of his two tries of the night at the 24th minute.

South Sydney looked likely to hold that lead of 10-2 til the halftime break, but a superb ball from Robbie Farah led to a try for Angus Crichton which was laid on by Adam Reynolds. The latter's conversion put the visitors up 16-2 at the break and things were looking dire for Wests Tigers.

The black-and-gold came out firing in the second forty - some solid defence and a positive first set in attack led to their first try... but it would be their only one.

At 16-8 the Wests Tigers got a little lax with their defence, and the Rabbitohs claimed two quick tries not long after Taylor's effort, Johnston and Burgess both notching their second. The Bunnies were able to cruise home to a twenty point win despite a lack of points in the final quarter of the contest.

Next week it's all hands on deck for the Wests Tigers - they face a gruelling test against Brisbane at Suncorp on Friday night, while South Sydney round out next weekend's eleventh round on Sunday night when they play hosts in Perth against ladder leaders Melbourne.
