Round 21 - Accor Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park / Wanngal - Crowd: 6434

Match Overview

The Bulldogs started their match against Broncos full of enthusiasm and it was only the introduction of Korbin Sims that kept the Broncos within touch, however it wasn't enough to deny the Dogs, who finished 36-22 victors in front of a dismal ANZ Stadium crowd tonight.

The seventh minute saw Martin slot a penalty goal and 4 minutes later, Isaako missed with his chance to equalise. But the first try came in the 14th minute in a stunning manner. The Broncos attempted a short drop out and Oates knocked it back. Lichaa cleaned up then threw a sterling pass around his body to Jackson, who took a great catch from behind his head and then dived over for a try. Martin converted.

Nine minutes later and they crossed again. Jackson sent a great cut-out pass to Holland who run down the right touchline and then kicked back in-field. Hopoate got a lovely bounce and dived over to score a great try under the posts. Martin added the extras.

After half an hour, Korbin Sims came onto the field and within 2 minutes, McCullough dished a short ball to him, and Korbin ran between two defenders before slamming the ball down for a try. Isaako converted.

Four minutes later Martin added another penalty goal and then with 2 minutes left in the half, Nikorima passed back inside to Sims who ran straight and hard to barges over for his second try. Isaako converted. From the restart the Broncos received a penalty and then Sims barged over for what looked like a third try, but the bunker ruled his ball carrying arm just grazed the ground enough to deny him.

The Bulldogs continued their party in the second half. Just 4 minutes after the break, they make a break down the right side through Smith. From the next tackle they swung the ball to the left side before Josh Morris sent his brother over for a try in the left corner. Martin's sideline conversion was perfect.

Just three minutes later Kahu dropped a well-placed bomb by Lewis and the Bulldogs cleaned up. From the next play, Frawley took the ball from dummy half, darted out to the left, dummied and then dived over for a try near the posts. Martin again converted.

It was just three minutes before the Dogs were in again, off another good kick by Lewis. This time Brett Morris tapped it back to Martin. He then passed the ball back in-field to Josh Morris who barged over for a good try. Martin made no mistake with the conversion.

In the 65th minute Martin kicked another penalty goal to give the Bulldogs a 36-10 lead.

The Broncos staged a late fightback, first through Milford who took on the line, dummied left and then stepped through a big gap before racing away to score under the posts. Isaako potted the easy conversion. 4 minutes later Milford got across the line again but was held up.

With 90 seconds remaining, Boyd put in a grubber and Isaako followed through to score a good try. He failed to convert.

Brisbane need to make an immediate response against Queensland rivals the Cowboys next Thursday in Townsville, while Canterbury can continue their late season form when they face the lowly-placed Sea Eagles at Brookvale next Saturday evening.

3. Josh Jackson

The back rower was magnificent, setting up tries, throwing cut out passes, putting in grubbers, on top of his usual rock solid defence.

2. Lachlan Lewis

The rookie half had his kicking game on point and was a constant menace to the Broncos all game.

1. Korbin Sims

Came onto the field and bagged two powerful tries in 8 minutes and very nearly had a third just 2 minutes later. A real handful all game.
