The Tigers exploded out of the blocks against Manly, dominating Manly in the first half to score a big 38-12 win at Lottoland.
The first half belonged solely to Luke Brooks, who had arguably the best half of footy in his career. His first grubber forced a drop out and on the next set, his next grubber kick produced a try for Lawrence, which Marsters converted.
The Tigers marched downfield quickly and Brooks put in another grubber, forcing a drop out. From the next set the Tigers got a penalty and Marsters kicked a penalty goal.
From the restart the Tigers again made in-roads. Brooks ran to the left shortside before turning the ball inside to Naiqama who burst through and ran 40 metres before passing to Watene-Zelezniak who scored a great try out of nothing. Marsters was successful with his conversion from out wide.
The Tigers dominated possession and field position for the next 15 minutes before finally adding to their score again when that man Brooks dived over from dummy half and planted the ball on the stripe, between Tom Trbojevic's legs. Marsters converted from in front.
It was only 3 minutes later and Brooks held up a pass nicely for Marshall and the veteran number 6 sliced through the edge defence to score on the right side. Marsters again added the extras to give the Tigers a brilliant 26-0 lead at half time.
The second half opened with Manly fumbling the ball twice before we saw some old school Benji Marshall sidesteps, as he stepped right and then left before diving over for a try just four minutes into the second half. Marsters converted.
Six minutes later and Manly finally got on the board after Thompson shrugged off a tackle by Marsters to score out on the left side. DCE's sideline conversion bounced off the crossbar and over for the goal.
The next 20 minutes became a bit sloppy for both sides before Manly scored a lucky try after Parker pounced on a Kelly grubber. DCE was again good with his sideline conversion.
Right on full time the Tigers were awarded a penalty try after Liddle soccered a loose ball into the Manly in-goal but was held back by Cherry-Evans. Marsters converted to give the Tigers a healthy 26 point victory.
Next weekend the black, orange and white are headed to Tamworth where they'll host a home game against Newcastle on Saturday, while Manly are away to the Eels at ANZ Stadium next Sunday.
