Warriors v South Sydney Rabbitohs

Tries to two of the Burgess brothers, and a strong performance from Greg Inglis saw the South Sydney Rabbitohs run out 30-10 winners against the Warriors in Mt Smart Stadium.

The early minutes of the game all went the way of the Warriors, with the Rabbitohs their own worst enemy. Repeated penalties, and some deft passing from the Warriors saw Agnatius Paasi crash over in the fifth minute. Isaac Luke converted the try, and the home side looked strong.

Minutes later the Warriors came up with another piece of brilliance, this time in defence. Adam Doueihi looked certain to score, sprinting toward the line down the right edge, before Roger Tuivasa-Sheck stopped him on the spot with an amazing dominant tackle.

Penalised 5 times in the opening ten minutes, the Rabbitohs then had to contend with playing a man short, with Thomas Burgess sin binned for an infringement that was the straw that broke the camel's back.

As has happened so many times this season, the sin binning turned out not to be the hindrance you would expect, with the Rabbitohs scoring two tries while playing a man down.

The first was to George Burgess, stretching out to score in the fourteenth minute, before Robert Jennings reaped the rewards of a slick ball movement to score down the left edge.

Returning to the field only minutes later, Thomas Burgess was then put on report - this time for a trip.

An impressive offload from Angus Crichton in heavy traffic saw Greg Inglis also pick up a try, while Thomas Burgess somewhat made up for his early indiscretions, scoring a four pointer of his own.

The second half improved slightly for the Warriors, as they held the Rabbitohs to only 8 points - a penalty goal, and a try to John Sutton in the 43rd minute. Sam Burgess became the second brother to get sent to the sin bin with only minutes left on the clock.

The Warriors did manage to score a late consolation try through Solomone Kata, but it was much too little, much too late.
