Round 5 - Marley Brown Oval, Gladstone / Gurang - Crowd: 5135

Match Overview

NRL fever hit Gladstone for the first time with the Titans taking their second consecutive home game on the road due to the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast and it was a better trip for the Titans taking a 32-20 victory at Marley Brown Oval

The Titans were looking for a better effort on their Queensland roadtrip than the trip to Toowoomba. Things didn't start too well for the Titans when Jono Wright opened the scoring after being a very late call-up for the visitors inside two minutes and the Titans had to chase again. Manly then went further ahead when Daly Cherry-Evans slotted a penalty goal to go 8-0 up.

Gold Coast then hit back when Jarrod Wallace was on the scene to clean up a tap-back off an Ash Taylor kick to open the Titans scoring.Jai Arrow scored the second of the Titans tries when Bryce Cartwright tried to get a flick pass away which he finally did and put Arrow through to score next to the uprights.

The Titans extended their lead with a peanlty goal before Morgan Boyle got his first career try when Akuila Uate lost the ball coming back from a kick recieve and after green lights from the mobile bunker, the Titans lead 20-8 at Half Time.

First points in the second half came for the home side when Michael Gordon slotted a penalty goal and it was an important two points because the Sea Eagles took the running from that  point scoring two converted tries in quick succession to Daly Cherry-Evans and Brian Kelly.

The gap closed to within two but the home side were able to keep the Sea Eagles at bay throughout the rest of the half including two late tries to Anthony Don and Jai Arrow to help run out 32-20 winners over Manly.

Next weekend, The Titans are headed out to Western Sydney when Garth Brennan & Bryce Cartwright take on their old side the Penrith Panthers, whilst the Sea Eagles are back home also next Sunday with a clash against the Wests Tigers
